Reflection – Music Video

When reflecting back on my music video i think that i could have done a few things differently  I have always tried to get steady shots with DSLRs and most people will agree is its incredible hard. I knew there was a new stabiliser in AE6 called warp stabiliser and i wanted to see how it would fare when i use my fly cam. Unfortunately i got a panning wobble that distorted the film, this made it impossible to stabilise using warp stabiliser  To improve next time i will hold the tripod with the camera attached as it would be easier to stabilise.

The second thing i would do differently would be to use colourama through magic bullet looks to grade my piece with more style. However for this piece i feel the colour went really well and i used the correct tools.

Thirdly i would like to have used a wider lens, as i feel i couldn’t quite capture the landscapes beauty.

However all in all i feel the project went well and was a good showcase of video and post for the genre of music i used.

Video and Post (Contrast & Continuity check)

Contrast & Continuity Check.

I’m going to use these screen shots as references for my colour corection and grading. As i look though the videos shots one by one i will make notes as to what needs to be changed and how this will influence the piece.

Screen Shot 2013-05-14 at 14.53.03Though these shots the adjustments i need to make are from shot 13 onwards, at the start of the story i graded the shots with a white base just by boosting the white level. After the levels adjustment i used curves to bring out the “punchy red” i wanted to capture from the woodland. From shot 13 onward i need to bring back some of the white base that has been lost along with a slight grain.

Also shot 13 needs a slight boost of red as it slightly green. I will keep adjusting the shots until they all look like they are roughly the same (colour wise).

Trial And Error, (Perry Wood Timelapse)

After a day out filming in perry wood fathersham, i had an hour and a half before the sun set and unfortunately the cast and crew were getting reckless so was limeted to a half an hour time lapse i made a few mistakes but was a good test. I was reluctant to add the time lapse into the piece as i didn’t want to make the final product feel cheap.

I had accidentally left the lens on auto focus that is why the flicker occurs but it was a fun test.

So here it is my trial, perry woods time-lapse.
